The only employee of Carda is Charles, a data scientist who recently quit his career at the largest e-commerce company in the Netherlands to work on an open source solution that can be used to combat gambling addiction. 

This all revolves around a unique Dutch regulation. This law allows independent researchers to force casino's to share their data, which is not possible in any other country in the world. Together with the UvA, they were the first to successfully use it in the five years of its existence.

Why Carda?

Girolamo Cardano (1501–1576) was among the first to conduct a comprehensive analysis of gambling data. His pioneering work in probability theory laid the groundwork for what would eventually become modern data science. 

Yet Cardano also struggled with the very subject he studied: he once lost all his possessions, including the clothes he was wearing. His son battled a gambling addiction that led him to steal from his father.

Carda Consultancy builds on Cardano’s legacy in the modern era. It does so by applying probabilistic methods such as machine learning to create a safer environment, whilst also learning from the dangers that technology is bringing to us, mere humans.
